Topshop Brooke Long Coat Review & 3 Ways to Wear it!
Hey Friends, Happy 2021! I know we’re only a little over a week in, but so far my number one most worn piece of 2021 has been VERY clear. I got this Topshop Brooke double breasted long coat for Christmas and have literally worn it almost every day since, so I thought I’d do a quick review and share some outfit ideas with this coat while it’s still in stock (because it’s so good I’ve got a feeling it won’t be around for long!). For reference, I am 5’6 and typically a size 4 or medium. I have longer arms, and have this jacket in a size 6. For me it’s the perfect size because it’s roomy enough that I can move my arms comfortably without feeling restricted, I can layer up underneath it, and it still doesn’t look overly boxy or baggy!
First thing’s first: Comfy + Casual because let’s be real, that’s how I dress 90% of the time! I love an outfit I can put on to lounge around at home in, but be good to run and take Euler out or run errands in at a moments notice. I have been loving cropped cardigans like this one because they’re easy to dress up or down and they’re SO comfy. They look super cute on their own and so put together with leggings, booties and a long coat to run errands in!
Okay, so I know Valentine’s Day isn’t for a month and let’s be real, I’m not sure what the situation will be as far as being able to go out for a date night anyways, but I am already starting to think up outfits that will work for both a date night at home & a date night out if it’s safe to do so, and I love this one! I love how the mini skirt/knee high boots combo shows just enough skin to be flirty, but the long jacket covers enough to keep you warm, and keep you from looking like you’re dressed for the wrong season. And again, another cropped cardigan because I’m seriously having a moment with them right now.
The one (and only) complaint I have about this jacket is that while it’s probably the cutest, chicest jacket I own, it isn’t exactly the warmest. It’s not something you can throw on over just a sweater and be good to spend hours in 35-40 degree weather in comfortably. This day I knew I was going to be out for a while, so I bundled up! I wore a thin long sleeve sweater underneath my leopard sweater dress, which definitely helped a ton, and then I opted for my Spanx faux leather leggings instead of tights to stay a bit warmer. Add on thick socks, a hat, gloves and a scarf, and I was perfectly warm for a full day exploring Manhattan with Euler in 36 degree weather. So it definitely is do-able to wear this jacket and stay warm for extended periods outdoors, you just have to layer up a bit!
