Why I'm Not Bringing My Ring to The Beach (And What I'm Doing Instead!)

Hey guys, happy Wedding Wednesday! To start off, I have a quick question! For all you married or engaged ladies, how often do you take off your wedding/engagement rings? I’m never sure what is safe and what isn’t, so I tend to err on the side of caution and take mine off for the gym, when I clean/do dishes, when I sleep, when I shower, when I swim and sometimes even when I go out to bars, just for the peace of mind. While I love my silicone Enso rings for the gym, sometimes I don’t want to wear my real ring but I still want something pretty and sparkly— enter Everly Rings!
I had been wanting a faux ring for a while because I knew that I most likely wouldn’t want to wear my real one if we were to go out of the country or somewhere where we’ll be super active and doing a lot of swimming for our honeymoon, so I started looking into options that looked nice (not cheap) but wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg, because it was supposed to be a ring that I wouldn’t be devastated if I lost/damaged. The best option I have found has been Everly Rings! What I love about Everly (vs. just going to Walmart or Claire’s and buying one for like $5) is that they look way more legit, AND they have tons of options, so there’s a good chance that you can even find one that looks similar to your real ring. As my actual ring is a bit unique, they didn’t have a look-a-like, so I ended up going the complete opposite direction for some variety— a classic, simple oval solitaire. I love it because unlike my real ring, I can play around with different bands without it looking super busy.
I have been wearing my faux ring when I go out to bars, because once I wore my real ring and came home (drunk) and took my ring off to shower, which lead to me panicking for like 10 minutes the next morning when I woke up without my ring on. Luckily I quickly remembered that it was fine and in its box just like it was supposed to be, but I decided that if I planned on going out and drinking more than a glass or two of wine from now on I’d wear the fake one and leave my real one safe in its box just to give myself the peace of mind.
At the end of this month I’ll be heading to Hawaii with my family, and I’ve decided that I will most likely be leaving my real ring at home with Jerry (who sadly won’t be able to come) and only bringing my faux ring, because I know I’ll be spending a ton of time in the water and I don’t want to risk leaving it in the hotel room and having it stolen (I trust our hotel, we’ve been going there for 11 years now so it’s like a second home to me, but I’ve heard horror stories from people who have had their rings stolen from their hotel room and I’ve decided that it’s just not worth the risk!), or even forgetting to grab it out of the safe before checking out and heading home to Nashville. So I’ll most likely just be bringing this one since I can wear it everywhere without having to worry about it getting damaged!

Here’s a quick close up of my Everly rings paired with my Everly bands! They have different discounts depending on how many you buy, so I ended up picking 3! One to use as a stand in engagement ring, one to see if I liked the look as a wedding band with my actual ring (the rose gold one), and the twisted band just because I loved the way it looked with the solitaire! If you’re like me and have been really torn on what to do for your wedding band, I would highly recommend ordering a few styles from Everly and wearing them around a bit to see which styles you love! It definitely helped me make my decision so much easier!
Some other great uses for a stand in ring set:
Pregnancy - I hear that during pregnancy your fingers tend to swell a TON, so many people end up having to stop wearing their rings towards the end. This is a great option if you want something inexpensive to wear in place of your real one until the swelling goes down
Not married/engaged and just want to avoid creepy men at bars or when traveling? Faux ring to the rescue!
Real ring is getting fixed or sized?
Just wanna treat yo’self to a pretty right hand ring (or technically either hand because you don’t have to wear them on your ring finger), Everly Rings has a ton of pretty ones to choose from!
Do you have a faux ring that you wear sometimes? When do you wear yours?
